Welcome to THIS IS JASON
From the author of THIS IS THE DAY
Welcome! THIS IS JASON is meant as a space for thoughtful, personal writing about faith, culture, and the creative life.
It exists alongside my historical Substack, THIS IS THE DAY, but serves a different purpose. This is where I explore ideas that don’t fit neatly into a historical framework, even though they grow out of the same convictions. Some writing needs room to develop without being forced into a format, and this publication exists to give that work a proper home.
Here, I write more directly and personally about faith, belief, doubt, and what it means to think clearly and live faithfully in a complicated world. Some posts will clarify belief. Others will wrestle with it. Not every piece will arrive at a clean conclusion, and that is intentional.
This space is also a workspace.
I use it to introduce ideas that may become future book projects or new Substack publications, sharing early concepts, outlines, and essays while they are still taking shape. At times, this may include literary nonfiction or literary fiction alongside more reflective or practical writing.
In addition, I plan to share tools and insights for readers who care about study and writing. That includes how I research and write about the Bible and biblical themes, what I’ve learned about building and sustaining a newsletter, what has helped or hurt growth and open rates, and honest reflections on the process of self-publishing and promoting books and long-form work.
If you’re wondering why you should listen to me at all, here is some context.
I am the writer behind THIS IS THE DAY, a Substack publication now in its third year, read in 48 states and 48 countries, with nearly 1,500 subscribers. That work explores significant moments in history through a reflective and theological lens.
You can find that Substack newsletter here: THIS IS THE DAY
I also recently wrote a short book titled Why Jesus?, which became an Amazon best seller. It was written for readers who want a clear, honest explanation of who Jesus is, what Christianity claims, and why those claims still matter.
You can learn more about the book here: Why Jesus?
A note about support.
You are welcome to read this publication for free. If you find value in this work and want to help build it and sustain it, you can upgrade to a paid subscription at any time.
I like to call paid subscribers my Paid Supporters because they really make this writing possible. Without support, it’s very difficult to do this work on a regular basis. This Substack will include paid subscriber only benefits and, over time, will also feature access to supporter-only content and practical tools as they are developed and introduced. Nothing here is rushed or promised before it is ready.
This is not a content feed built for speed or volume. It is a place for careful thought, honest work in progress, and writing that values depth over noise.
Whether you arrived here from This Is the Day or found this space on its own, I’m glad you’re here. Let me know what you’re most interested in hearing about or learning about. I’ll take all suggestions into consideration as I grow this space.
